This policy explains what personal data One Dollar Planet (onedollarplanet.app, the “Service”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. 1. What we collect

  • Account: your email address; when you sign in with Google, also your name and profile picture from Google. We also keep the language you choose, the bio you write, and when you signed up.
  • Projects: what you add about a project — its name, website, description, logo, pictures, video link, links and category — and its places on the planet. An approved project is public.
  • Activity in your account: the stars you give, the projects you save, the countries you follow, the notices we send you, and your orders.
  • Payments: our payment partner, the Merchant of Record, collects your payment and billing details; we never see or store your card. We keep each order’s amount, what it bought, its status, its transaction number and when you agreed to its start. We pass your email address to the checkout so you don’t have to type it.
  • Visits: to count visits, views and clicks, the site keeps a random visitor number in your browser’s local storage. With it we record your country (from our host’s network, not your exact location), the kind of device, the operating system and browser family, the site or campaign you came from, the page you arrived on and your language. We don’t store your IP address or your full browser string, and visit records are not linked to your account. Authors see these figures only as totals.
  • Reports and messages: if you report a project or ask to claim one, we keep what you write and the email you give; if you write to us, we keep the correspondence.
  • Launch updates: if you subscribe to updates on the planet’s page, we keep your email address, the language of the page and when you subscribed.
  • Security: to stop abuse — too many sign-in emails, reports, previews or update subscriptions — we keep one-way hashes of IP addresses that expire within about two days.

2. Cookies and browser storage

We use no advertising cookies, third-party trackers or pixels. We use:

  • odp_session — keeps you signed in, for 30 days;
  • odp_google_state — protects sign-in with Google, for 10 minutes;
  • odp-language — remembers your language, for a year;
  • local storage on your device — your theme, language, cookie choice, drafts, saved places and the random visitor number.

In the cookie notice, “Only necessary” stops the visitor number from being kept between visits: it then lasts only for the page you are on. Until you choose, and after “Accept”, it is kept.

3. Why we use it

  • To run your account and the Service, and to provide what you buy (contract).
  • To review projects and keep the planet safe and free of abuse (legitimate interests).
  • To send service emails: sign-in links and notices about your projects, places and payments (contract and legitimate interests).
  • To send offers and the weekly letter about new projects, unless you turn them off; each has a one-click unsubscribe link (legitimate interests, or consent where the law requires it).
  • To write to you about the launch and news of the Service, if you subscribed to updates (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any of these emails or by writing to us.
  • To count visits, views and clicks and show authors their figures (legitimate interests, or consent where the law requires it).
  • To keep the records tax and accounting law requires (legal obligation).

We don’t sell your data and don’t use it for advertising.

4. Who we share it with

  • Our payment partner, named on your receipt — checkout, payments, tax, invoices and fraud prevention, as our Merchant of Record.
  • Cloudflare — hosting, database, file storage and delivery of the site.
  • Resend — sending our emails.
  • Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • OpenFreeMap — the map’s tiles, which your browser loads directly from it.
  • YouTube — a project’s video and its preview picture, loaded from youtube-nocookie.com and i.ytimg.com on a page that has one.
  • Project pictures may load from the author’s own site or app store, such as Apple’s.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

Everything about an approved project — its name, pictures, description, links and places — is public on the Service.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. Where the law requires, transfers rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

  • Account data: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your projects, follows, saved projects, notices and sessions, and replaces your email and name with an anonymous placeholder.
  • Orders and payment records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, also after an account is deleted.
  • Visit records: kept to show long-term figures; they carry no name, email or IP address.
  • Update subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and sessions after 30 days; expired ones are deleted a day after they expire.
  • Uploaded pictures that are not used, and those of a deleted project, are deleted after 7 days.
  • Review and moderation records: as long as needed to keep the planet safe.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live — for example, under the GDPR in the EU and the UK — you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to restrict or object to its use, and to withdraw consent.

You can delete your account yourself in your dashboard’s settings, and stop emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them. For anything else, write to support@onedollarplanet.app; we answer within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. For payment data, you can also contact our payment partner directly.

8. Security

The site works over HTTPS only, sign-in links and sessions are stored only as one-way hashes, and few people on our team can see personal data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

9. Children

The Service is not meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; we tell signed-in authors about significant changes.
